Guest Speaker
Our Guest Speaker this week was John Tick who described to us his and his wife's recent holiday adventures in Europe. They flew to Italy via Doha (an interesting experience given the war in the Middle East). They joined the "Enchanted Princess" cruise liner in Rome; it has a capacity for 4,800 passengers and 1,200 crew. The cruise ship visited Croatia and then Greece. Their next step was Scotland where they observed the Falkirk "Kelpies" which are large stainless steel horse sculptures. They enjoyed a boat cruise with a friend on Union Canal and told us about the Falkirk Wheel which replaces a number of locks raising a vessel about 23 metres vertically. They also visited Cummock House at Dumfries which was restored with a massive grant from King (then Prince) Charles; it is now controlled by a Royal Trust. The last leg of the trip was to Switzerland visiting Zurich, the Eiger Mountain and a town called Murren from which John's mother's maiden name originated.
2 Minute Noodle
Please remember that 2 minute Noodles are meant to be 2 minutes, not 10 minutes, it is important for the flow of the meeting that they are no longer than 4 minutes maximum please.
This week Elizabeth Gorey helped men have a laugh at themselves. She showed a video of 2 men trying to collapse a pram to stow in a car boot. It was a hilarious pantomime as the two guys tried to collapse the new type of pram without success. Up fronts a woman who immediately presses the button that allowed the pram to collapse.
