Our Guest Speaker this week was Dr May Aung-Htut was introduced by our own member Professor Steve Wilton, talking about Molecular Patching.
May spoke about the concept of creating a gene patch to complete the sequence that has been introduced by disease.
May also spoke about:
Individualised medicine for rare diseases
A molecular therapy laboratory
How the cost of medical care and the loss of productivity from people with rare diseases worldwide is huge
How rare diseases is not generated by environmental issues but by a gene error at birth
May and Steve were thanked on behalf of the Club by Geoff Hick
2 Minute Noodle
Please remember that 2 minute Noodles are meant to be 2 minutes, not 10 minutes, it is important for the flow of the meeting that they are no longer than 4 minutes maximum please.
This week the 2 minute noodle was given by Arthur Blaquiere filling in for Ishay Katz talking about his visit to Pakistan in the early 1990's for work and his search for a hockey stick.

President Tony announced the following:
The District was calling for nominations for District Governor Nominee for 2028-29
4 way speaking contest was being held at the Scarborough Rotary Club next week with a student from our support school Hampton Senior High School competing.
The Scarborough Rotary Club hold an annual Networking Event that we as a Club should consider doing too.
The Stan Perron Award are calling for nominations.
The Hampton Senior High school Teachers Award was being sponsored by our Club again this year.
Neil Hancock advised that the Club is still progressing with the lamington drive for our West Perth fundraising/new member drive.
Neil also mentioned that he and Tony Delich were looking at options for producing a Club promotional video for our website and social media.
Bulletin Editor vacancy from 10 September, our Bulletin Editor & Treasurer Geoff Woods will be away travelling from 10 September to mid-December.
Can someone please volunteer to prepare the weekly Bulletin in Geoff's absence.
