Celebrating 65 Years of West Perth Rotary Club

Members and friends enjoyed a wonderful evening of quiz fun in celebrations of our Clubs 65th birthday. With 70 plus guests in the room we were well and truly entertained and kept guessing by quiz master Neil Winman who kindly donated his time on the night. The food was delicious, from wood fired pizzas to delicious celebratory cupcakes, everyone had their fill.

We cannot go past thanking Sandy Gray who initiated the concept of the quiz night, and her team in the fundraising committee for organising such a wonderful event.

We acknowledge and thank all those who contributed to the event - if you donated some goods or your time, it all helped to the success of the night, and while the figures haven't been quite finalised, we expect to make in excess of $2,000.

A superb effort and celebration for our awesome Club.
President Geoff Simpson and Ric Blaquiere, handing over a record of the history of the Mt Lawley Rotary Club and formation of West Perth Rotary Club. Ric was given this by her parents, past Rotarians, John A Kuring PDG PHF and Lauren Kuring PHF.
A few hungry patrons waiting patiently for their pizza. Thanks to Fabio Solda from basewfpizza who ensured we were all well fed with delicious authentic wood fire Italian Pizzas.
Thanks to Nathan Blockley for the use of his Photobooth and props - it was such a hoot. Here we see Bernie Foley and his friends showing off their wears.
Pizza chef Fabio hard at work churning out the delicious pizzas for dinner.
Thanks to Ferngrove Wines for the amazing wine donations for our prize winners.
Quiz Master extraordinaire Neil ran a well oiled ship and kept us all guessing as we churned through the quiz.
A gold coin donation question on the night.... no, it wasn't pin the tale on the donkey, it was place the dot on Uluru
Team Woods slightly perplexed but determined to find the perfect spot on the map!
And our winner on the night - not too far off the mark in the end.
Team Woods started the evening well out in front and were midfield by the half way mark but they didn't quite make the grand final.
The might team of Tony Delich gave the winners a run for their money.
All Rotarian team headed by President Geoff had loads of fun but the music and movie questions had them all baffled.
The winning team at the start of the night... little did they know they would take out the trophy.
The winning team took out medal... and the wine generously donated by Ferngrove Wines.
A sample of the raffle prizes on offer on the night.
A slide show of the Club history brought back fond memories of friendships and gave us all a reminder of the wonderful project we have supported over the many years of service above self.
Donor Mate's "Touch and Go" Kiosks are thriving
September has seen the biggest month yet, with the kiosks being accessed 261 times.

Ms Celia Hammond MP (pictured with Donor Mate General Manager Dr Jo Muir) dropped into a Nedlands pharmacy recently to inspect a kiosk.  Although at first doubtful whether she was a registered donor, Celia was delighted to find that she indeed she was!

Donor Mate is a charitable organisation dedicated to increase the donor registration of young people aged 18-35 – an under-represented yet critical cohort.

Initially kiosks were installed on university campuses. West Perth Rotary has supported Donor Mate as an important, and active, component of Rotary District 9455’s committee providing awareness on organ and tissue donation.

Dr Muir will be our guest speaker on October 31.
